ABI FERRIN: A FASHION DESIGNER OF INSPIRATION.

On September 12th 2009, Runway lights shined brightly on Abi Ferrin during New York's fashion week when the Dallas-based designer presented her 2010 collection "Genesis" at the Metropolitan Pavilion.
Known for its cool and versatile, silk tops, the eco-minded label launched in January 2004 and has amassed a celebrity following that includes Molly Sims, Carrie Underwood, Erykah Badu and Dayanara Torres.

Ferrin took a minute out of her hectic Fashion Week schedule to discuss modern women, bohemian chic and The Osa Rainforest with FLASH LIFESTYLE.

FLASH LIFESTYLE: The Osa Rainforest inspired your 2010 Collection "Genesis." How did it inspire you?

FERRIN: I was brought down to Costa Rica by a group of people who started the Rainforest Recovery Initiative to explore the possibility of employing impoverished women in the Osa Peninsula, which is the most bio-diverse rainforest in the world. The concept is to empower people to work and make a living while also living in harmony with the environment instead of against it.

FLASH LIFESTYLE: What do you love most about being a designer?

FERRIN: Having a voice that affects and influences the modern woman?

FLASH LIFESTYLE: How would you describe your personal style?

FERRIN: Bohemian Chic-"too much is not enough."

FLASH LIFESTYLE: What is your favorite city?

FERRIN: Jackson, Wyoming – my hometown but I also love Rio de Janeiro.

FLASH LIFESTYLE: What is the state of fashion today?

FERRIN: Fashion today is focused on holding those in the industry accountable for their behaviour, pricing and product development. You have to offer a responsible product which is made ethically and well. People are focused on the big picture.
